We then went outside and used our newspaper planters, (thank you Mrs. Douglas and Mrs. Kerr again) put on our gardening gloves and we filled them with soil. We then got one of our heritage broad bean seeds and planted them into our soil. It was a bit tricky for some of the children in our class as the pots were very delicate!
We got all the beans planted and then we went back inside to finish off our activity. We then had a visit from the Year 6 Environment group and then we thought we would go have a look at our food garden to see where our beans would be planted when they grew a bit bigger.
Our resident expert Mr Roberts was on roster at the perfect time as he was full of knowledge about the different plants, herbs and vegetables that we grow in our garden. The Year 6's came along with us and showed us where the worms were kept...they were a bit smelly!
The Year One students had an absolute ball making our bean pots and exploring our food garden! A big thank you to our parent helpers and wonderful Year 6's! If you see the pots outside our room, encourage your children to tell you what their bean needs to grow!
Hope you had a restful weekend!
