Spelling Review for the end of term

Good evening parents,

As mentioned in some of your parent interviews last week and this week, next week the children will be having their spelling review of the sounds they have been learning all term.

At OLC we take part in Diana Rigg PLD spelling  rotations and this wonderful program targets the children for exactly the sounds they need to know for their stage in their learning. Below are the sounds that your children have been learning for the past 8 weeks in their spelling rotations. As we do not take home spelling in Year One until Term 4, they have been learning these at a classroom level.

On Wednesday (week 10) we will be having our term spelling review to test their knowledge of sounds. Below is a table with all the sounds that you children have been learning. They will be able to tell you what group they are in, but please email me if you need clarification.

Please be aware the that the blue group are learning blends and although I have put the two letters together, they make different sounds eg. t-r-i-m.

A way you can help them is to call out a word with that particular sound for them to write down on a scrap piece of paper eg. if you child is in the green group and is learning the 'ch' sound, ask your child to write down the word ch-i-p and so on.

If you need any more information, please email me to let me know.

Thank you for your continued support
