Mission Market Madness

On Friday the 13th of August OLC celebrated our feast day of the Assumption of Mary. We began the day with a beautiful prayer service with the whole school, the song 'Gentle mother' was a gorgeous start to our day. We then returned to the class and completed some feast day activities and if you have a little look at our class door, you will see some beautiful pictures of Mary that the children completed.

The stalls were then set up for the mission markets and I must say...the lucky dip stall was an absolute hit! We sold out very quickly and the children loved all the little stationary and toys that were packed into the bags. Thank you again to all the families who donated things for the lucky dip.

The sun came out and the games, lollies and fun were a massive hit with the children! Here are a few snaps of the children having fun in the sun!

After the Mission Markets, the children took part in a variety of activities including lego, German dodge, parachute activities, balloon racing and one of the favourites...Go Noodle.

Parent helpers needed!

Good evening parents,

With the Mission Markets approaching quickly, I am seeking a few parent volunteers to help make up our lucky dip bags this Wednesday the 10th of August. The children have Library from 2.15 so I was hoping to have at least 4 volunteers to help make bags until home time at 3.05pm.

If anyone is able to help, please let me know in the morning or email me.

Early Childhood Wildlife Excursion

Today the people from West Oz Wildlife  came to Our Lady of the Cape and gave us an experience we would not forget! We were very excited to experience some Australian animals and find out some very interesting facts about them.

Both of the presenters were very knowledgeable and engaging and we learnt a lot of facts about where each animal lived, what they ate and how we could protect them in the wild. We met a Koala called Juda, a Dingo called Yapper, a Lizard called Bobby and a Snake called Molly.

The children were so interested in each animal and were even brave enough to have a snake around their neck! I was definitely not as brave at them!

Juda was such a soft and furry Koala and the children loved it when he looked at them!

Yapper was a very friendly Dingo and he loved his back being stroked.

Think Mental Math Books

Good afternoon parents,

Thank you to all those people who handed in their Think Mentals book last Friday. The children are doing a great job at completing the two units for the fortnight. Over the next two weeks could you please assist your child in completing unit 7 and 8 and hand it back into class by next Friday 12th of August. 

Thank you to all those parents who are giving instant feedback by correcting their children's work. This will be extremely beneficial to developing your chid's mathematical understanding and help them to learn from their errors.

Year One Family Mass

Thank you to all of those people that attended the Year One family Mass. The children were extremely reverent and respectful throughout the mass and sung beautifully.

Thank you to all of those children who had jobs throughout the Mass and a big thank you to you, the lovely parents for bringing your children along to share this special Mass.

 Thank you to Mrs. Meyer, Mrs. Horrocks and Mr. Torrese for the wonderful music throughout the night and from all accounts, I have been told the pizza was delicious!
