Think Mentals unit 5
Thank you to all of the children's who handed in their unit 4 of their Think Mentals. From all accounts I can safely say that the children are enjoying the Math challenge as a part of their homework routine.
If the children finish the unit early, please feel free to drop it into class so you can tick it off your list.
Unit 5 will be due on the 23rd of June (week 9) and this will be the last unit for the term. Next term the children will be completing one unit per week but the book will be handed in every two weeks for checking by the teacher.
If you have any questions or queries, please let me know.
Many thanks

Bug Catcher Bonanza!
On Friday between recess and Year 1R and Year 1P tackled the challenge of creating their very own bug catchers. After weeks of planning and designing their own creations, the children were delighted to be able to finally put their ideas into action! We are very thankful for all of our hands on parent helpers who gave up part of their Friday to sticky tape, hot glue and assist with refining the Year 1's designs. The project would not have happened without you!
After lunch, the Year 1's set off on an expedition into the bush to find as many bugs as they could. We came across a number of bees, spiders ants and one VERY LARGE bull ant. We discussed how we need to be safe when hunting for bugs, as well as how we also have the option of setting our bugs free after viewing them in our bug catchers. We hope you all had a lovely weekend exploring, hunting and collecting bugs!

Year 1P's Assembly was a smashing success
Congratulations to all the children (and parents) who did such a fantastic job with their assembly last Friday. The children did some outstanding signing, dancing and reciting of poems. Have a look at some of the pictures of the performers below.
Thank you very much to all the parents who did such an outstanding job with costumes and helping the children get changed afterwards.

Slimey Snails in Science!
During Science over the last couple of weeks, we have been looking closely at snails. We have observed what they look like, how they move and what they eat. Thanks to your contributions (Especially Cody's 20 strong box of snails!) the Year Ones got to observe a snail in a collaborative team of 3.
We used magnifying glasses and had an up close look at our slimy friends. Some of the children loved being able to see Science in action!
Some Science pictures from our snail session...
Thank you for your support!
