A post from Mrs. Harte

Dear Parents,

This week in Maths we have been learning all about capacity and volume.  Students started their discovery of capacity with helping Goldilocks match three different sized cups to the three bears by measuring how many pom poms could fit into each cup.  They learnt that the one with the most amount of pom poms must belong to papa bear, the one with the least amount of pom poms must belong to baby bear and therefore the middle sized one must be Mumma bears.  On Wednesday the students got some hands on experience with capacity and volume with the Capacity Capers relay game.  Students were put into teams and they had to transport 1000 millilitres of water from one tub to another using a sponge.  We measured the volume of how much water was in the 2nd bucket to see which team had the most left.  Students had a great time and sorry about the multicoloured hands.

I would also like to say that Friday will be my last day at OLC.  I have had the most amazing time and will miss seeing the children's smiling faces everyday.  I would like to say a big thank you to all the wonderful students in 1P for being so well behaved and such amazing learners and also a huge thank you to Miss Prowse for letting me take over her class and being such an exceptional teacher to learn from.  Hopefully I will see you all again soon.
